Equestrian Valentine's Day Gifts: For the Horse and for the RiderMarketers tell us that the ideal Valentine's Day gift is a romantic one; roses, chocolates and maybe a little stuffed animal. Sure, but the real way to my heart is something I can use throughout the year (ah hem, horse tack or equestrian apparel...wink, wink) and for bonus points throw in a couples trail ride. Can I get an amen ladies!? :)

Well, I wish I could personally talk to all of the significant (or potential significant) others that may need shopping assistance before February, 14th, but since I can't help you there, as consolation I'm sending a fun and delicious horse treat recipe, dog treat recipe and a discount code just for you! Treat your four-legged true love, or be the ultimate gift-giver and make some extras for all the ponies at the barn, by baking them something from the heart!

"Usually, one's cooking is better than one thinks it is." ~ Julia Child

No Julia Child type skills needed here...though we do love her quotes! You will love this easy peasy and delicious dog treat recipe that Sara, of Pouwer Patties, has graciously shared with us. I have the pleasure of regularly being a vendor right next to the best dog and horse cookie baker in the Chicagoland area. Usually, you can find a line at Sara's table because word around the Ledges Sporting Horses is that dogs and ponies become treat connoisseurs after having her patties. I can't confirm that, but I can tell you my daughters swear her patties are their secret to making our dogs sit on command and the reason the horses come running to greet them.

But our recipe sharing doesn't stop there. We also have a tried and true horse treat recipe to share with you. This recipe is one my girls and I have enjoyed making over the years. We found it super easy to make and most importantly my super picky gelding loves them!
