Eventer Rachel SledzikEquestrianista is excited to welcome Rachel Sledzik, Area X Eventer and Young Rider, as our newest addition to our Brand Ambassador team!  Rachel travels from her hometown in New Mexico to participate in events from coast to coast.

Meet Rachel and her equine team!

Hi, I’m Rachel Sledzik, Los Alamos High senior, working student for Kate Chadderton, Area X Eventer and Young Rider! I’m 17 years old, and I have been riding for 14 years. Currently, I’m living in New Mexico (not particularly the hub for eventing) but I make trips to Arizona, Maryland, South Carolina and California often. I have the goal of going to the NAJYRC1* this summer, and then continue my riding career from there.

My life has always been in the saddle. As a small child, I rode hunters, but then moved to England for a couple years and rode jumpers. I rode the ultimate naughty pony and had the pleasure of getting run away with and crashing into fences to try and stop. Clearly, I found my love for horses there, if I dealt with that pony for so long! Once I moved back to the states, I found my love for eventing. Since then, I haven’t been able to give up the adrenaline rush of cross-country and I have been eventing for five years now and compete at the preliminary level!

OTTB Eventer

My main competition horse is Lois Lane, aka Laney, Lanester. She is a 13-year-old bay OTTB. We have been a team for almost a year and a half now, and it is incredible just how far we have come! Together, we have had all top ten placings except for two shows: AEC’s and my first prelim. We have an incredible bond, and I am exceptionally lucky to ride her.
My other horse is Rebound, aka Bounder Boy, Bounder, and Rebound. He’s a 6-year-old bay OTTB. I got him off the track less than 3 months ago, and couldn’t imagine having a better baby! He is extremely smart, maybe too smart since he likes to push my buttons, but loves his new job. He has quickly picked up many dressage movements, and is starting to jump. I can see him becoming a very successful eventer in the future; he is about as bold as it comes!
Future eventer
I am very lucky to ride these two incredible horses and cannot wait to represent Equestrianista with them! They will look dashing in their Equestrianista apparel!
